I saw the show on Tuesday 24th August. It was absolutely amazing, I laughed, I had a tear in my eye and I sang along with strangers next to me in the audience! Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodge were superb. I would thoroughly recommend this show to anyone who wants a really good evening at the Theatre! I have just pre-ordered the cast recording off Amazon! Thanks for a great night x

Every comment in the attached reviews is pure fact. Every aspect of the show pulled my heart in from the first moment through the end of the second show. I still want to see it again and again...life is all about how people make you feel. Not only do they make you feel good during the show, I had the surprising opportunity to meet/shake hands with Terry, Todd, Robin, A.J., Douglas and Kelsey. They are such warm, kind and sincere individuals who exhaust themselves to entertain. I wasn't familiar with anyone in the cast before the show; but I have the highest respect for "cagelles" and especially for Kelsy and Douglas. I will make every effort to see them perform live in the future.

I saw this edifying and wonderful show for the second time last night, 8/11. What a wonderful time, and at a cabaret table seat to boot. I was harassed by a Cagelle. It was a transcendent experience that I won't soon forget. The show was tight, fast, and hilarious. Last night's audience was very appreciative. I can't wait for the new cast recording!
Stephen Holley - 08/12/2010
I have already seen the play twice and am going a third time. It is a true musical and theatrical gem. The dancing is breathtaking and original; the acting is superb, and the singing as well. The story is heart-warming, original, clever, authentic, sad, happy, moving, human...simply a delicious, delightful evening of art and entertainment....an absolute MUST SEE....

I saw La Cage on my 20th birthday (7/10). I had no idea what to expect when I took my seat. Needless to say, this show blew me away completely! Les Cagelles were hilarious and sexy at the same time, and their dancing was PHENOMINAL! Kelsey Grammer & Douglas Hodge are EXCELLENT together and make a FANTASTIC stage pair! La Cage truly deserved its Tony Award for Best Revival! I could not have asked for a better birthday celebration. Thank you! I walked away from the show believing that the best of times really is now. GO SEE LA CAGE IF YOU'RE IN NEW YORK. I PROMISE YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

So when I was in my country (CUBA) I always dream with the possibility of seeing a life musical being from a small town never have the opportunity to go to the capital and see one I always envy all those who could see the musicals and the actors who in Cuba that always make reference to the Broadway musicals once i got to the country I promise myself to go Broadway to see my first musical and on my 28 b-day last July 18 La cage was the chosen one. OMG I though that it have been the most amazing thing that I have ever done for myself. I simply LOVED every minute of it.
Jorge Mena - 08/05/2010
I went to see La Cage after I ran into CoCo in Times Square. CoCo showed me the love of La Cage. The show was amazing! I will never forget it of CoCo
La Cage Lover - 08/01/2010
I was lucky enough to see La Cage on Saturday, 7/24, when Chris Hoch was playing Georges. I'm sure that seeing Kelsey Grammar in the part would have been amazing, but Hoch was so PERFECT for the role that I can't imagine anyone else doing it now!! He was dashing, sincere, hilarious and real, and with a wonderful voice. And Douglas Hodge was pitch perfect, very funny and absolutely moving as Albin as well. Between them and the wonderful supporting cast, I was completely absorbed and blown away. The Cagelles were SO strong, graceful, funny and sexy!!! Do NOT miss it. Also, a note -- I was way back in the cheap seats up in balcony , but the Longacre is such an intimate theater (for Broadway) that I could see just fine.

Was in NYC over the weekend from DC. Was running around trying to figure out which show to see and this show wasn't originally on my list. Noticed Kelsey Grammer was staring and figured I would give it a whirl. All I have to say is GO SEE THIS PLAY!!!!!!!!! Hands down, zero competition, best theater experience of my life. The acting is flawless and mind blowing. It's more fun than Mama Mia or anything else you will come across. Dale Hensley has to be one of the best actors of all time and Kelsey Grammer was brilliant as ever. I can't rave enough about this musical. This should be playing in a larger theater at double the price and I would gladly be first in line and pay up! It's really that good. DON'T MISS THIS MUSICAL WHEN IN NYC PERIOD!
Washingtonian - 07/16/2010
I've already written an article on the brilliance of the show that I caught on the 4th of July... Now, more than ever, I want to say to the star of the show:
Marry me, Kelsey! ;)
Lydia R - 07/16/2010
I saw this last Sunday (07/11/10) and was BLOWN away. I originally just wanted to see Kelsey Grammer because I loved his sitcoms, but the show took me away into another world. Douglas Hodge was phenominal and all the dancers were great. Probably one of the best shows I've EVER seen!
Brian from Orlando, FL - 07/15/2010
Just loved it.
cma - 07/11/2010
Saw it late June the night before flying out of NY back to Australia.
The show was brilliant. Kelsey Grammer superb and truly shows his talent as an actor and performer! Dale Hensley played Zaza the night we were there...and what a wonderful performance; incredible voice and he brought his own style to the role. I am hoping when I am in NY again in late February next year and I bring my daughter it is still on... It something wonderful to see in your life... Bravo to all the cast!
Edward from Melbourne, Australia - 07/05/2010
I live in the UK and was on a holiday in the big apple; this show was without a doubt the best part of my trip! Douglas Hodge is one the best actors in Britain and now internationally, I couldn't take my eyes off his magical performance. Kelsey Grammar was a delight and a gorgeous singer, and the 'Cagelles' were the best dancers, singers and musical comedians i've ever seen. This is musical theatre at it's most perfected, and well done to the Menier, the cast and crew, and jerry herman! I can't afford another trip to New York but I will be first to buy the new recording! Congrats!
Anna H - 07/05/2010
We saw the matinee last Saturday and were blown away by the performances of the entire cast, but especially Douglas Hodge. Later we waited at the stage door with the crowd to get a glimpse, and everyone came out except Hodge. Kelsey Grammer couldn't have been more friendly and gracious, signing autographs and posing for pics. His performance as Georges was perfect and I am now a huge fan of his. Can't wait to see it again when he and Hodge switch roles. This is one of those shows that gets everyone on their feet clapping along and having fun.
CBK - 07/05/2010
Out of every Broadway Show my girlfriend has taken me LA CAGE AUX FOLLES is my favorite, the music, the lyrics, the story it is all incredible ! I simply can't wait for the new cast recording and Kelsey Grammar, Douglas Hodge and the whole cast and crew of LA CAGE Did a brilliant job ! I'm bringing my parents next time I see it !
Jorge Ramos - 07/01/2010
What a sensational production! The most enjoyable afternoon on Broadway in 2010. Do we miss Jerry Herman? Every musical number is a showstopper from start to finish. Perhaps, his greatest score ever composed for the Broadway stage. You will cry, you will laugh but one thing I am forever certain of is the award-winning performances of Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodge.
The Cageles are the hardest working chorus on Broadway.
A musical theater orgasm from start to finish. Don't miss this heart-warming production of "La Cage aux Folles."
Bill - 06/28/2010
I was in new york for my birthday and saw this wonderful show. The cast was great, and i would like to thank Kelsy Grammer for making my birthday extra special when he came off the stage and kissed me on top of the head.
jeff - 06/28/2010
I saw it on a Friday and immediately went home and got a ticket for Saturday. So so so wonderful and moving. I saw Dale Hensley as Albin and he was perfection! Kelsey Grammar is an amazing singer and shows George's love for Albin so beautifully.
Scarlett - 06/27/2010
La Cage was an excellent and entertaining production. Kelsey Grammer did a fabulous job in his role!
Anne - 06/26/2010
What a gorgeous, heartfelt production! Douglas Hodge is powerful and truthful in his portrayal of Albin/Zaza - I don't think I've ever seen anything so touching, profound, beautiful... there simply aren't words to describe it! I cannot wait to see this production again (for the fifth time), or for the cast recording!!!
S. Chastain - 06/26/2010
Kelsey & Douglas, cast, crew and musicians---thank you, thank you, thank you! La Cage is perfection! You were my first (Broadway show, that is) and I will always remember the magical evening of June 12th. It was, without a doubt,"The Best of Times"!
Deann - 06/26/2010
Best theater experience in our 26 years together - yes, the best of times is now! ! Thank you for the love and the laughter!
Norm & Henry - 06/25/2010
Better than I expected. Douglas Hodge gave an outrageously powerful and funny, and Kelsey Grammar lit up the stage as Georges. Also, wonderful dancing! Les Cagelles were hilarious, and Robin De Jesus was hysterical as the maid. I am so happy I saw it. In my opinion, it is the best show of the season, and anyone, musical theatre fan or not, needs to see this stunning and brilliant revival. 5 stars!
J.G.B. - 06/21/2010
What an amazing production!!!
I can't wait for the release of the new broadway cast on CD!!!
Bravo!
Seth - 06/20/2010
Just saw this show last night. Can't stop singing the tunes. Phenomenal experience, one that will stay with me for a lifetime. So crazy about it, bought two more seats, I'm going again and I'm gonna drag someone along (lucky person!) I certainly hope you are recording a CD! It's a must-have after a night like this.
Amalah - 06/20/2010
La Cage has always been my favorite musical, and from the moment the revival was announced anticipation started welling up. I was NOT disappointed. The production blew me away. Douglas Hodge is a STAR, but the real stars are Les Cagelles. Those 6 guys work their tushes off every night and really "work it." What a phenomenal ensemble.
And what a brilliant production.
Congratulations!
Sam - 06/14/2010
This show is an absolute broadway sensation!. Doughlas Hodge performence was out of this world, I had never heard or seen him before till I saw La Cage and I fell in love with his performence as soon as he began to speak. Kelsey Grammer knocked my socksoff with his singing, I did not expect it out of him but he truely is a stage performer at heart I believe. The small theatre creates a beautiful intamacy that ou will fall in love with, and all the sets and costumes were superb as well. For an evening of great laughter, tears, and seeing more La Cages girs then you could ever imagine in a lifetime this show is perfect to see!!
Matthew Durland - 06/14/2010
A fabulous revival of a classic show! Douglas Hodge is ah-maz-ing as Albin/Zaza and has his Tony
Jordan Stefanski - 06/12/2010
Saw it 6/10. Terribly enjoyable from start to finish. Mr. Grammer has, it turns out, a lovely singing voice. The nightclub scene with "The Best of Times" is maybe the most joyous thing I've ever seen on stage. I was ready to give *just that song/scene* a heartfelt standing ovation -- and I'm sure I wasn't alone there. But the show went on, as it were. Perhaps the audience needed to be more assertive and butt in and say, "No. We are stopping this damn show. You have earned this. Let us acknowledge it."
WT - 06/11/2010
I came to see "La Cage" originally because of the score and Kelsey Grammer. I was so blown away by Douglas Hodge, never having seen him before, that I came back FOUR more times to see Douglas/Zaza. What a tremendous job he does! I can't express how Douglas does what he does, but he is very honest and touching and "I Am What I Am" so beautifully and powerfully performed by Douglas, is the greatest moment on stage I've ever witnessed. I was always sad that I was not around to see Ethel Merman or Carol Channing perform on Broadway. But who knew I would get to see a lovable diva on stage that far out shines all of them! The whole production is so perfect in every way, all the casting and actions, set, direction, it's all spot-on. Thanks to everyone in the cast and production team for giving us "La Cage"!!
Celia - 06/06/2010
Never have I ever seen a show that displays more brilliance and talent then La Cage. I smiled and laughed so hard, my face had cramped by the time I had left the theatre. To simply thank the cast and crew for a spectacular performance would not nearly be enough. I can only hope this show runs for a very, Very long time.
Tori - 06/06/2010
La Cage is musical theater at its best. Don't miss it! Kelsey Grammer gives a heartwarming and endearing performance as Georges, and Douglas Hodge is comic genius. Superb acting from these two stars that is matched by a fabulous cast. Their energy and enthusiasm explode off the stage and embrace the audience in sheer joy. The music and lyrics are wonderful and add depth and emotion to the story. We saw the show on Wednesday, June 2, and bought tickets to see it again in August. Once is not enough!
gayle - 06/04/2010
We saw La Cage on May 27th and loved every minute of it. The play is OUTSTANDING and both Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodege are SUPERB. It's the kind of show that makes you feel good and you leave singing The Best of Times Is Now to yourself. Who could ask for anything more?
Ewald & Suzy - 06/01/2010
We werw lucky enough to see the show on the 25th of may during our holiday in new york. It was the most fantastic experience on Broadway. We brought back a great emotional memory. Thank you to the artists on stage and backstage!!
Giuliano & Rino - 06/01/2010
This is my husband's favorite movie and well, the play was even better. We were smiling and laughing for days afterwards. Next time we are in NY again, I will get front row seats. Far and above the best show we've ever seen.
Julie & Randy Moody 05/27/2010 - 05/31/2010
What a great night! I don't think we stopped laughing and clapping the entire show. We'll definitely be back - with better seats this time.
Elizabeth - 05/30/2010
We had tickets on wednesday the 26 may 2010 to see Catherine Zeta-Jones in "A little night music"! She was ill and so we got our tickets back. So we went to the other side of the street and tried to get tickets for La Cage! We got 2 tickets in the 5th row! It was the best show I've ever seen. Thank's to CZJ :-) !!! The cast was amazing. The show is brilliant. I loved every second. All the best wishes from germany to the cast! Beate
Beate - 05/30/2010
My sister & I had a blast yesterday. The show was everything we wished a Broadway show could be, and so much more. I didn't want it to end, but it did and now I want to see it all over again! Timeless, funny and FANTASTIC!!
Sharon & Ronee - 05/27/2010
This show is truely wonderful. We loved every minute from the overture to the finale standing ovation - FABULOUS!!!
David and Chris (from Aus) - 05/22/2010
The brilliantly staged, heartwarming, vaudeville inspired, "With you on my arm," is just one morsel in this feast of aural and visual delights. You'll walk away craving even more. When Tony nominations become winners, this will be the most difficult ticket to get on Broadway. Procrastinators take heed.
eddymv - 05/19/2010
HEDONISTS UNITE!!! This much joy and pleasure requires being experienced again and again.
nycfanatic - 05/19/2010
I've never left a Broadway musical so exhilarated. It was one of those unheard of experiences where the mutual energy of the audience and cast was palpable. It was as if we, as the audience, had become an integral part of the performance. This was such a rare, happy and memorable time that I've already purchased tickets to experience it once again. Don't miss out!
showdad - 05/18/2010
My favorite of the 7 shows I saw this past weekend. This production is a marvel and Doug Hodge's performance ranks right up there with LuPone in GYPSY! Simply amazing. Everyone should run, jump, crawl and beg, borrow and steal to get to the Longacre and see this incomparable show!
R.J. Lowe - 05/18/2010
The best time ever! Laughed till we cried. Three hours went by so fast and we didn't want it to end!!! FABULOUS!!!
Valerie Jacoby - 05/17/2010
One of the best shows I have EVER seen! My jaw hurt from laughing, my hands hurt from clapping, and eyes hurt from crying, it is the total package. Doug Hodge is Albin and Kelsey Grammar is so lovable as Georges. A Perfect Production in every way, and Les Cagelles are not too bad to look at either...
LP Morano - 05/16/2010

First time in NYC and we went to see La Cage. Made the whole trip worth it!. The actors were brilliant, the costumes were amazing, and I could not have asked for a better experience! The show deserves to win every Tony it is nominated for!
Allison - 05/12/2010
What an absolutely beautiful show!!! Congratulations on the well deserved Tony nominations. Douglas Hodge is brillant and hands down should be a lock for his Tony; I found myself laughing, singing, clapping, standing, and mesmerized with all of that much talent on stage. Do not miss this show...you will regret it.

What a FAB show and SUPERB cast led by Kelsey Grammer and Doug Hodge!!!! Great night!

Ashley Keep - 04/30/2010
I was in New York for the weekend to celebrate my birthday with my three daughters and a friend. La Cage aux Folles was the cherry on top of a wonderful "sundae' in New York. Thank you to the cast for making this theatre experience delicious!
sylvia rankin - 04/29/2010
I laughed and cried throughout. The most fun musical since Hello Dolly with Carol Channing. Hodge & Grammer deserve a shared Tony for musical performance. I can't wait to see it again.

A must see. It was a fantastic evening at the theatre.
Tim Ford - 04/27/2010
I saw this production this past weekend on Broadway in NY, thought it was funny and well put together. The cast was awesome especially my cousin "Terry Lavell" who portrayed "Mercedes". It was phenominal!
R.Smith - 04/27/2010
I saw this intimate production in London after its original cast had moved on and found it enjoyable. Then I saw it on Broadway and loved it so much I went and grabbed another ticket the next day. The whole cast is terrific. Kelsey Grammer makes a delightfully charming host. As for Douglas Hodge's Albin, it is a performance for the ages - unforgettable.
Jennifer O'Donnell - 04/25/2010
Laughed until I cried. All performers exceeded our expectations. Loved the music. Just sorry we couldn't purchase a CD of this casts performance.
Suz G - 04/25/2010
Pure joy and excitement to see a cast so so jelled that you feel they are an actual family with love, warmth and whatever else has befallen on them, including those inlaws.Trials and tribulations of real life including a delicious eccentriciy such as that bundle of joy Robin de Jesus as Jacobena. Not to sound greedy, having seen this show 4 times so far, but I need a dose of this tonic quite often and hope to continue my attendance. With words and music that fill the heart with joy and a visual spectacle that surpasses any other show on Broadway I hope the theatre will be filled so that many can soak in what is in my opinion one of the best that Jerry Herman has given to posterity. And to end let me not forget that visual delight Jacqueline with a voice that can reach to the heavens, the gorgeous Cagelles, and of course our two powerhouses Kelsey and Douglas.Trust me,go see the show and you will remember it forever.
Daddy Neil - 04/23/2010
I have seen all the La Cage movies and both earlier stage versions of this show, but this production has to be my all-time favorite. Doug Hodge and Kelsey Grammer were the closest in sentiment to the original film. The entire cast was brilliant especially Robin De Jesus who stole every scene he was in. As for the Les Cagelles all I can say is WOW! This is the best cast I have ever seen in any stage show. I'm coming back to see it again.
Rosemarie LaMaida - 04/23/2010

Laura Waters - 04/23/2010
Saw the show from the front row cabaret table. Can't stop thinking about it! Luv the way the show explodes off the stage! Kelsey has crafted a character who you can tell really loves Alban...not as apparent in other versions. Douglas is Cockney Anthony Newley meets Will Ferrell. His impersonations of Marlene Dietrich & Piaf are appreciated. Luv the beach balls in the audience too!
Gary - 04/22/2010
A GUILTY PLEASURE!!!!!!!!!!
Joseph Seminara - 04/21/2010
Undoubtedly the most enjoyable production I've sen this year! Absolutely brilliant performances from Grammer, Hodge, Shively, De Jesus and the rest of the supporting cast!
Grant Holmes - 04/21/2010
Saw this show in London last year staring Graham Norton and loved it. Like the smaller version gives so much to the show. Can not wait to see it on Broadway...now bring Priscilla Queen of the Desert to NYC..it is another great London show.
Tom Hendricks - 04/19/2010
Had great seats on Friday night, 4/16. What a smashing success! Everything about this show was perfect: the singing, the dancing, the acting, the lighting, the staging. Not a dull moment - electrifying and heart-felt. I haven't stopped thinking about this show, and I can't stop humming Douglas Hodge's emotional rendition of the "Best of Times!"
Stephen Holley - 04/19/2010

Saw the production on the West End last September, with the handsome John Barrowman. Was an absolute joy of watching the show. So sad I cant come to NY to see the Broadway production. But I want to congratulate all of the cast in this production, I LOVE LA CAGE AUX FOLLES FOR LIFE!! I'm only 14, and hopefully will be able to star in this amazing show! 10000 stars! :)

J'dore La Cage! I attended the opening night of previews. What a memorable night at the theatre. The story is compelling, the production is inviting and intimate. the entire cast is in a word "BRILLIANT" The Chemistry between Doug Hodge and Kelsey Grammer is so electric one risks being shocked. Full of laughs, love, and LEGS! A MUST SEE!!!
Jordyn - 04/15/2010
Attended the show on the opening of previews and was immediately swept up with excitement. Les Cagelles are the hardest working broadway dancers I have ever seen - their energy seemed to show no limits. The cast is superb and Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodge are simply amazing - full of life and very touching. The audience were absolutely crazed with this production - it is a must see!!!

I saw this opening night at the Longacre Theatre in NY. Kelsey Grammer was great in a musical, and he and Douglas were fabulous together. We waited by the stage door to see Kelsey Grammer come out, and he was very nice and signed a lot of autographs. Amazing show. Don't miss it.
Ann M. Patterson - 04/07/2010

Amanda Hamlyn - 03/08/2010
I managed to catch this masterpiece three times in London, incredibly moving, but still keeping the fun of the original production!

This is a show that really made me sit back in my seat and think "Woah, this is musical theatre at it's best!"
Charles Aries - 03/07/2010
I saw this production in London, back in September 09, with John Barrowman in the cast.
I knew the show was in London. And I knew it was one I had to see.
But I didn't expect to see the show scaled down to a production this intimate. And I never expected the show to work so exceptionally well!
The show really stands on the strength of the book and Herman's tremendous score.

It's a fun show. And I'll be glad to make the cross country flight to New York from San Francisco to catch this production.

Saw this show when it was still playing at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London. This production of La Cage remains intimate enough to tug at the proverbial heart strings, while still indulging in campy flair and some fabulous feather boas. The humor and heart make for a knock-out combo that definitely deserved it's West End transfer and its upcoming trip across the Atlantic. Loved every minute of it and can't wait to catch it on Broadway!
